Helen Hingley

Consultant  |  Financial modelling and analysis

All organisations need to grow revenue and manage cost, but it can be hard to decide on the right actions to take.

Where is it best to focus?  What happens if things change?

I help people to try out different ideas and scenarios within a financial model of their business, before committing to a decision.

The model provides a range of financial projections under different conditions, showing which factors are most important.

The result?  More confident, informed decisions, from a better understanding of the financial impact.

I am a Chartered Financial Modeller with the Financial Modelling Institute, and a Chartered Management Accountant with CIMA.

My track record spans 20 years as a financial modelling and commercial FP&A specialist, at over 30 organisations across the public, private and not-for profit sectors.

I build financial models in Excel using industry standard best-practice modelling techniques.  I am also skilled in using the PowerBI platform for data modelling and analysis.

Since 2017 I have been an independent consultant operating through my limited company, after a varied career as a management consultant in PA Consulting's Strategy & Decision Sciences practice.

Experience

2017-present

So far as an independent consultant/ contractor, I have delivered over 12 assignments with 7 varied clients.  These have ranged from short 10 day consultancy assignments to 12+ months support as a contractor.  For example:

  • I delivered all financial modelling and analysis required by a fintech start-up, over a period of 2 years, including supporting two successful funding rounds.

  • I provided a range of financial modelling services at a private equity owned fibre infrastructure company over 16 months, including:
  • modelling network build and customer demand for the medium to long-term plan,
  • rebuilding the commercial model to support negotiations with potential partners,
  • developing a new cohort-based customer pricing model to inform pricing decisions and revenue projections.

  • I built cost models and commercial models for multiple strategic procurement programmes and partner negotiations in the public sector (postal services, a national infrastructure programme, and technology procurement).

ZSL is an international £70m charity which delivers conservation projects in more than 50 countries worldwide, carries out ground-breaking scientific research and operates ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.
